The Palmetto Bank Sponsors 14th Annual “Be An Angel!” Program for Upstate Children

November 2, 2009

UPSTATE, SC – The Palmetto Bank will offer residents across the Upstate a chance to make a difference in the lives of children during the holiday season with the bank’s 14th annual “Be An Angel!” program.

The Palmetto Bank, in partnership with Hands On Greenville, The Salvation Army of Spartanburg, and Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Greenwood, Laurens, Oconee, Pickens and York Counties’ Department of Social Services, has made available to those interested, the opportunity to “sponsor” a child during the holiday season by providing gifts they would not otherwise receive. Those interested in the “Be An Angel!” program may stop by any of The Palmetto Bank’s 29 Upstate locations to select a child’s name from the “Angel Tree.”

Gifts purchased for the children should be returned, unwrapped, to the branch where the child was selected. The bank will deliver the gifts to Hands On Greenville, The Salvation Army of Spartanburg and DSS offices, which will then distribute them to the children.

“We are excited to support this program as another demonstration of our commitment to the Upstate communities” said Andy Douglas, Retail Banking Executive, “Not only are we supporting this program corporately, our employees also take great pleasure by investing their time in this impactful initiative.”

Celebrating more than 103 years of service in the Upstate, The Palmetto Bank (www.palmettobank.com) manages $2.2 billion in assets including Commercial and Consumer Banking, Trust, Brokerage and Mortgage Servicing. The Palmetto Bank is the fifth largest independent state-chartered commercial bank in South Carolina with 29 locations throughout the Upstate counties of Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Greenwood, Laurens, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg and York.
