UPSTATE, SC –The Palmetto Bank is sponsoring a food drive in Greenville County to support The Salvation Army of Greenville in re-stocking its food pantry. A record number of families and individuals (150% increase in July compared to the same time period last year) are using the food pantry and The Salvation Army resources are running low.
The Palmetto Bank would like to encourage concerned citizens, our customers and friends to join us in this great cause. Now through August 31, 2009, stop by any Palmetto Bank location in Greenville County and drop off as much non-perishable food items as you can carry.
According to Major Bobby Lancaster, Area Coordinator for The Salvation Army, “This is one of the toughest times I’ve encountered as an officer of The Salvation Army. More and more individuals from the community are arriving at the food distribution program run by The Salvation Army of Greenville declaring that they’ve finally reached the end of their savings. They need help.”
